Luxembourg

Profile

The University of Luxembourg was created in 2003 and it has its origin is the former Centre Universitaire de Luxembourg (1969-2003). For more than three decades the CUL allowed the Luxembourg students to complete up to the first two years of studies in their home country, whereas remaining studies were to be completed in one of the many universities with whom the CUL had agreements with.

Interestingly enough, when in 2002 the Luxembourg Government decided to expand the Centre Universitaire into a fully-fledged University it also decided to preserve compulsory mobility as one of its distinctive features.

The combination of its brand new BA/MA programmes with its innovative multicultural and multilingual approach and the fact that the UL retains its privileged position as hub of a wide network of Higher Education institutions indicates that its mission and profile have many characteristics in common with the ones of Campus Europae. This encourages a close cooperation that is expected to strengthen greatly the continuous development of both institutions.
