Follow up of the Campus Europae presentation
Following up the invitation of the European Parliament, the Secretary General Prof. Christoph Ehmann had the opportunity to present the Network Campus Europae to about 40 members of the Committee of Culture and Education and about 50 observers from the EU-Commission, Council of Europe, other European Institutions and interested visitors on the 18th of December 2006 in Brussels. Prof. Ehmann explained the main targets of the network and explained especially the priority which Campus Europae is giving to bring in students from countries with “minor” languages, firstly, and for the social dimension of the exchange, secondly.
In the short but intensive discussion after the speech the M.E.P’s have expressed their interest in the Campus Europae programme of combining working and studying and of finding alternative financing support for students from lower socio economic backgrounds. The M.E.P’s expressed their great interest in this “innovative programme”, as Doris Pack, rapporteur of the Committee for the new Lifelong Learning programme, termed it. She and several other members conveyed to the Secretary General their political support for Campus Europae initiative.
