The Project
The idea of Campus Europae is to strengthen and accelerate the development of the sphere of European education by establishing examples of concrete cooperation.
Universities from different European countries intend to create a new dimension of collaboration, which will clearly exceed the current degree of international cooperation among universities, with respect to both intensity and quality.
One premise of this project is that the individual universities maintain their particular identities. Collaborating with each other should make existing diversities and specific characteristics of individual institutions fruitful. First and foremost, cooperation in the sense of Campus Europae means to utilize cultural differences among the universities as valuable assets. It is a question of intelligent interface management between independent universities - not the establishment of uniform European university standards.
In the long term, this planned new form of cooperation hopes to render obsolete innumerable present-day bilateral agreements by incorporating them into large-scale agreements. It will be characterized by more intensive attention to student needs, and it will, above all through the nature and scope of the new cooperation, internationalize the participating universities in general.
Campus Europae is under the patronage of the Luxembourg Government.
